Our monthly Lunch & Learn days are always a good opportunity to get the TechWyse team together, share some knowledge and, importantly, enjoy some good food.
Our October Lunch & Learn was particularly busy. We welcomed Nisha, Mit and Jana from Assurix to the TechWyse office, celebrated our recently awarded Assurix trustmark with cake and champagne, had a brilliant lunch courtesy of Trott and Whinney, and finished the learning part of the day with an important conversation about mental health.
Not bad for a day in the office!

Welcoming the Assurix team to TechWyse
It was great to welcome Nisha, Mit and Jana from Assurix in person and receive our Assurix plaque.
We recently became just the seventh managed service provider in the UK to achieve the Assurix trustmark, something I’m extremely proud of.
As I explained when we announced the achievement, the trustmark is important to us because it provides independent, ongoing verification of the standards we work hard to maintain across security, governance and service delivery. Rather than being a one-off assessment, Assurix continuously assesses participating MSPs against 64 controls.
For businesses comparing IT companies in Essex, I think that independent evidence is increasingly important.
Choosing an IT company involves a huge amount of trust. Your provider can potentially have access to your systems, data and security, so you need more than somebody telling you that they do a good job. You should be able to see evidence of it.
That’s why Assurix’s idea of “proof, not promises” fits so well with the way we want to run TechWyse.
Receiving the plaque was a lovely opportunity for the whole team to celebrate the work that went into achieving it.
Then came the burgers…
Of course, it wouldn’t be a TechWyse Lunch & Learn without the lunch.
This month we had Trott and Whinney set up their absolutely incredible burger van in our car park, which went down extremely well with the team.
Our Lunch & Learn days aren’t just about squeezing another training session into everybody’s diary. They’re about giving us some proper time together.
We’re a close-knit team, and I believe that matters to the service we provide. When engineers are comfortable sharing knowledge, asking each other questions and solving problems together, our clients benefit too.
Our whole approach is based around being Talented, Trusted and Transparent, and that starts with how we support the people inside TechWyse. We believe that providing quality support to our clients begins with providing a supportive environment for our own team.
It’s one of the things I think can sometimes get overlooked when businesses compare IT support companies in Essex. Technology matters, but so do the people looking after it.

An important conversation about mental health
The “Learn” part of our October Lunch & Learn came from Natalie at Mid and North East Essex Mind, who joined us to talk about mental health.
This is a subject that’s important to us.
Working in IT support can be demanding. You’re often speaking to somebody precisely when something has gone wrong, they’re under pressure, and they need help quickly. Looking after the wellbeing of our team helps us create the environment in which people can do their best work and provide the level of care our clients expect.
We’ve supported Mid and North East Essex Mind for several years, including sponsoring the charity at the Colchester Stampede for the last three years, so it was particularly good to have Natalie spend some time with the team.
There was plenty for us all to think about and take away from the session.
Our October Lunch & Learn was more than a day away from the helpdesk
Looking back, our October Lunch & Learn actually brought together quite a few things that matter to me about TechWyse.
We celebrated an independent trustmark that demonstrates the standards we expect of ourselves. We invested time in our team’s knowledge and wellbeing. We spent time together away from the usual day-to-day work. And yes, we ate some very good burgers.
These things might not immediately sound like IT support Essex businesses need to worry about. But I think they’re closely connected.
Good IT support doesn’t start when a ticket arrives.
It starts with building a talented team, creating a culture where people care about doing things properly and continually finding ways to improve. When you get those things right, you’re in a much better position to give clients the dependable technology, clear advice and responsive support they need.
That’s the kind of managed service provider in Essex we want TechWyse to continue being.
And after a particularly packed October Lunch & Learn, I think we’ve earned the cake.
