How will we achieve this?

Workforce

We support the growth, training and development of our workforce. We are an equal opportunities employer and we ensure that all our staff feel valued, accepted and all have the same access to development opportunities. We offer our employees a living wage, hybrid working and private healthcare. We follow health and safety legislation diligently and uphold all human rights legislation.

Community

We value our local community and want to ensure that we make a valuable contribution to it. We have a strong sense of community and connection and we have supported and continue to support a number of community projects.

Environment

As a business and as an employer, we are very aware of our environmental responsibilities. We encourage our staff to adopt hybrid working to reduce the environmental burden of commuting. We run paperless where possible and our website is 100% carbon neutral. We calculate our annual carbon footprint and consciously offset the carbon we produce through tree planting and carbon capture.

Our Goal:

At TechWyse, our goal is to reduce our paper usage to a minimum.

Stacks of Paper

How will we achieve this?

As a technology company our focus is always on digital solutions versus paper ones.

We have been an early adopter of e-signature software; reducing the need to print and physically sign documents.

We provide our clients with their invoices in a digital format only.

In 2021, we used 500 sheets of paper, per employee, which is 95% less than the national average.

Annual Carbon Offsetting

Businesses account for 19.1% of all carbon dioxide emissions in the UK.

Our goal:

At TechWyse, we want to both minimise and offset our carbon emissions.

Planted Trees

How we will achieve this?

Every year we track and offset our yearly carbon usage in order to be carbon neutral. We calculate how much

carbon we have used from as many different sources as possible. These include: power usage in our office, transport to and from client locations and international flights.

In 2021, in order to offset our carbon output, we donated 100 trees to the National Trust to be planted across the UK.

In 2022, we have donated just over half an acre of trees to the Woodland Trust.

When fully grown, a typical tree can absorb around 21kg of carbon dioxide per year. Newly planted saplings absorb significantly less, meaning a large amount of trees will need to be planted to cover any businesses yearly carbon dioxide emissions.

In addition to this, our website is 100% carbon neutral, thanks to our web hosting partner, 20i.

Supporting local charities

During 2021/22 approximately 2.17 million people used a foodbank in the UK

Our Goal:

To support local charities as much as we possibly can.

How we will achieve this?

To achieve our goal we will be making regular donations to charities within our local area.

In July 2022, our team donated around 75kgs of essential supplies to Uttlesford Food Bank.

Vanessa, our Operations Director, is a trustee of the Uttlesford Food Bank, so this is a very important charity to our business.

Essex Wildlife Trust

The Essex wildlife trust is the county's leading conservation charity, they are committed to protecting wildlife and inspiring a life-long love of nature.

TechWyse are proud Gold Corporate members of the Essex Wildlife Trust.

We decided to become an investor in wildlife because we value the work that they do in protecting local wildlife and we feel that supporting our local wildlife is one of the best ways to show our commitment to working ethically and cleanly.

More about the Essex Wildlife trust

The Essex Wildlife Trust (EWT) is a conservation charity that focuses on protecting wildlife and the environment. The charity was founded in 1959 and they now protect over 8,400 acres of land across 87 sites and are supported by 39,000 members.

They produce information for the public and local businesses on how to work and live more environmentally friendly and how to reduce carbon emissions in their day to day lives.

Anyone is able to view live webcam footage of habitats such as the owl nest - which went viral when the owl had babies in early 2022. This helps everyone get much closer to nature than they ever have before. Over the years, our team has helped install and troubleshoot these webcams, making sure they are ready to capture the big moments!

As well as this, EWT take donations to support their charity and protect our wildlife for the future generations of Essex.

Wyse Reuse

"The lack of access to technology in schools is holding pupils back"

Source - nationalliteracytrust.org.uk

Our Goal:

To reuse and redistribute unused technology for the benefit of the local community.

How we will achieve this?

We are running our Wyse Reuse campaign to encourage donations of unused tech so that we can redistribute into local schools.

To date, we have had donations of monitors, laptops and tablets. This fits in perfectly with our environmental aims of reusing and recycling and also fits with our goals of helping the local community..
